Killing Hills

The canons had just been silent

After a day of hard work

Killing people on the other side

We walked silently

Down the street

Watching the carnage from afar

Like in a dream,

The broken windows, screaming people and so much blood

All over the place

It was a that time to late anyway

To do anything about it

Being hardened by the war

Did not stop the slow breaking

Slow destruction of the soul

That would last for many years
